Wyatt's 2nd Birthday!

Two years ago, on January 9th, we got to meet our precious baby boy. I LOVE to celebrate this day! Wyatt makes us smile and laugh everyday. There is absolutely nothing that his little hugs and kisses can't fix or make even greater than it already was. He has the most cheerful smile and sweetest voice. He loves to help Mommy and Daddy, explore new things, be outside, talk, dance, play his guitar, have books read to him, watch "mouse" and Elmo, play football with Mommy and Daddy before bed, jump on the bed, take naps, play with cars and trains, and do anything that involves playing in water. He has a kind heart and is always concerned when his friends are sad. He has learned to say "please" and "thank you" and says "thank you Mommy and Daddy" for anything we do for him. He's easy going and flexible and even says "night night" when it's time for bed with a smile and kiss even when he'd rather stay up and play. He wakes up just as happy. Wyatt Reid, you are the best thing we've ever known and we treasure watching you learn and grow each and every day. You make our hearts melt.

Wyatt got snow for his birthday. Chris was so excited. This is his favorite weather, so he thought it was extra special that Wyatt got snow on his actual birthday. We had a gymnastics party with several of Wyatt's little friends. Wyatt is not much of a fan of gymnastics when we go on Saturdays, but he really loved showing all his friends what you are supposed to do at gymnastics at his party. He ran around, climbed on things, jumped, played with balloons, and got to swing on the rope (always his favorite thing at gymnastics; he's been hanging onto the rope like a pro since he started at 17 months!). After lots of playtime, the kids got their little lunches that I made for them and had cookie cake. The party room was decorated with Mickey Mouse and that made Wyatt very excited! As the party went on the snow just kept falling. It was beautiful. When we left it was completely white outside.

Wyatt got to be the center of attention and the girls gave him a medal. There was too much fun stuff around to sit for too long though. :) Wyatt still wears his medal everytime he sees it.

Our life lately...

This post is going to some random stuff that I keep wanting to post and haven't gotten around to. Wyatt keeps us laughing non-stop. You just never know what he'll do or say. Some of the favorite things to say lately are shoessss, elmo, mouse, uh-oh, NO!, Wyatt, wa-wa (waffle), milkkkkk, aPPle, bounce (you'll see why in a minute), poo-poo (yup, potty training isn't too far away), vrooooom vroooooom, rooooooar, and lots more. Those are just the faves!

So, one day a long time ago (I don't even remember how old Wyatt was) he had a horrible day at babybootcamp. He was hitting, not sharing, and the list went on. Now I know that it was a short phase, but then I panicked a little because he was being a bully. So, off I went straight to Target to get a time out spot (thank you, Super Nanny). We've had this spot for awhile and rarely have to use it, but occasionally.... well, you see. The story this time was that Wyatt wanted popcorn and we were about to go to dinner so he couldn't have more. He threw a huge fit. We tried all the good parenting things - didn't work. Finally, we told him that if he was going to scream and cry to go do it on his mat. He went straighte over there, say down, and stopped crying. This is what I saw when I went to get him. So cute!




Wyatt LOVES being outside. He would probably like us to let him live out there. We went to the park and Raider (we have 2 dogs but he was the lucky one today) came, too. Wyatt walked almost the whole way home and it was quite a walk. Most of the walk he carried his guitar, but then he wanted to walk Raider. Here he is being big and helping Daddy.

We went to Pap and Lori's for New Year's Eve for a party with lots of family, friends, and other kiddos. Wyatt did such a great job. He played with other kids, ate, hung out on the couch and watched "mouse," ate, walked around and talked to everyone, ate, and just had a great time. He never once fussed. He even made it past midnight (yes, we are trying to get parents of the year twice in a row). We thought for sure he'd crash on the way home - nope! But he did go straight to bed. It was a great night and a perfect way to bring in the new year.

One night, Wyatt's BFF, Aidan, came over for dinner and to play. We had such a great time all getting to hang out and the boys had a BLAST! Here they are in the bounce house. They play so rough and they are definitely all boy. We were mostly thankful for no boo-boos that night. Aidan and Wyatt are in the same class and they play together all day. When Aidan leaves, Wyatt gets so sad.

Christmas

This December has been amazing! I've uploaded some pictures to go along with this post, but I didn't take the time to get them in the correct order. So, here's what we've been up to.

We visited Safetytown in Frisco, where we got to see Santa and learn about safety. It was our first time to go and I think we'll be going back lots more because Wyatt loved it. Wyatt was so brave with Santa this year. He ran up to him, gave him five, sat on his lap, and got a candycane (one of Wyatt's new favorite treats).

One of the many great things about my job is that I get 2 weeks off to spend hanging out with Wyatt. We treasure this time and we sure have been busy the last 2 weeks. We took several drives to look at Christmas lights as a family. We baked Christmas cookies. And played, and played, and played. We had a few playdates, which we love to do to catch up with all our friends. One day we went to Gattitown, where Wyatt and Kaleton traded gifts and got to play. Wyatt's favorite game was basketball. He might be little, but he thinks he's big when he's in front of the hoop. Another day, we decorated (and tasted, of course) cookies with Cooper, then went to Chuck E. Cheese to play. Wyatt did a great job putting sprinkles on the cookies this year. We even got together with several of our baby bootcamp friends that we don't get to see too often anymore at Will's house. The kids had so much fun running around playing and the mommies had just as much fun catching up.

Christmas was so special this year. We got to tell Wyatt the true meaning of Christmas and he would listen to our stories, even though he doesn't truly understand yet. He didn't quite "get" Santa either, but he sure knew how to open presents! Christmas Eve, we went to Sasa's house with Pap, Lori, Aunt Sarah, Uncle Garrett, and lots of family we don't get to see too often. Aunt Jessie and soon-to-be-uncle Gene got to spend the night with us. Early Christmas morning we went to Pap and Lori's to open gifts with everyone then we all came back to our house to do more gifts and Pap made his world famouse biscuits and gravy breakfast. That night we headed to my mom's to do Christmas over there. We have the best functional-disfunctional (that is what Chris jokingly calls it) family ever and my divorced parents and step-parents are all friends so we get to all be together for holidays. It's perfect for everyone and I feel very lucky to have it this way for Wyatt. Papa, Aunt Lisa/Uncle Jeff, Aunt Dawn, cousins Marnie, Devyn, and Skylor all came over and it was so fun hanging out. Of course, there were more presents. The day after Christmas, Wyatt got to skype with Bunny, Aunt Maddie and Aunt Kenzie in Alabama. We sent our love to Afghanistan where Big Daddy is working hard and hopefully heading home soon. It was a great Christmas.

Wyatt's favorite presents this year were Tickle Me Elmo (it makes me laugh, too), ANOTHER guitar (he loves them all!), everything that had "mouse" (that would be Mickey) on it, and a bounce house.

Fall Fun

We have been having lots of fun as the weather has gotten cooler. I can't believe how fast the school year is going, but I'm sure looking forward to Thanksgiving Break. It's been so long since I've updated our blog that I can't remember what I've said and haven't said. Wyatt started his new school about 5 weeks ago and he LOVES it. His teachers are awesome! When we get there in the morning, he walks to his room so happy to see his friends and teachers. When we pick him up, he is so excited to show us what he's been up to. He has been talking up a storm and repeating everything we do. It's the cutest thing. Tonight he was pointing out his nose, eyes, ears, etc. and I said tongue and stuck mine out and he copied. It was so cute!!! I'm still struggling with getting the camera out all the time and some pictures are on Chris and my mom's phones so these aren't all the best, but I wanted to get these up tonight.

Halloween this year was so fun, because Wyatt actualy got it and was very excited to get candy. He wanted to eat every piece that went into his bucket.

Wyatt's school had a parade. I took a half day off at school so that I could get there early and get to spend this time with him. Chris was able to make it, too. He was excited to see us and so it was hard to get him to pose with his friends, but I still think this picture is adorable.


We went to the Fall Festival that the kids at my school held. It was alot of fun and my kids loved getting to play with Wyatt. One game had goldfish as prizes. I told the girl running the game that we would settle for a piece of candy. ;) Well, at the end of the night they were begging people to take the fish home. I thought it would be fun for Wyatt to look at and so I finally gave in. I brought him home and didn't have spring water so I needed a glass small enough to have enough water/space only using the water the fish came with.... this ended up being a wine glass. I took this picture to send to my mom because I didn't think the little guy was looking so well..... sadly, he died less than 2 hours later. Luckily, Wyatt didn't know any difference and I was prepared for the sad ending.





Wyatt's BFF that he met at our first daycare (and who is in his new daycare class with him) went to the Fall Festival, too. His daddy works at the same school as me. Their favorite game was playing in the balloons.

These pictures are not in the correct order. One night Chancy and I planned a litte playdate for the kids. We made dinner together while the kids played, then we painted pumpkins (worked well since they can't do any of the cutting yet), and then the kids got cleaned up and got to watch cartoons and eat cookies. P.S. You can't tell here, but Wyatt borrowed one of Cooper's princess diapers. He will really appreciate that one day. haha

Here is my little artist hard at work. He did such a good job!

One weekend, Chris and I took Wyatt to the Celina Pumpkin Patch. We had tons of fun feeding animals, picking a pumpkin, riding the train, and riding the hayride.

He rode all by himself without a seatbelt (and it was a long and far ride). Yes, we were nervous. We had no idea how far the ride was going away from us, which was around the pumpkin patch but it seemed like miles to us.

My mom, me, Wyatt, Ashley and Tiffany (friends) all went to the Fair the last Saturday that it was in town. We had a blast! The fair always makes me feel like I'm 12 again. And this was Wyatt's first year to go (except for when I went when I was pregnant with him and ate all kinds of pregnancy goodness foods). Wyatt was so big and we had a blast riding rides together. We even rode some all by himself. He absolutely loved it! This boy has no fear...

Wyatt and his BFF have been getting to go to the high school games together. They love it! It's amazing that the games are at Pizza Hut Park. We sit where the kids are blocked in, but have room to play.

The one thing I didn't get pictures of but I'm sure someone else did was my birthday party. I decided I wanted to go to Trail Dust in Aubrey because they have a big slide and not only does Wyatt love slides, but so do I (possibly even more). :) We ended up going for lunch because the World Series was on during dinner time. It couldn't have been more perfect... we had the place to ourselves. This was the fastest and steepest slide I've been on in a long time. Wyatt, of course, had no fear, and rode it over and over again. My sister and I had tons of fun racing down the slide (Chris was the timer and I know that the winning slide was done by me the time Chris didn't start the timer).

Sweetest things...

One of my favorite things to do with Wyatt is read books before bed. Tonight it was the sweetest laying in his little big boy bed with him and cuddling while we read two of his favorite books.

This is what Wyatt sleeps with. He doesn't really have anything he can't sleep without but this is what he gets every night before going to bed. He loves to push the moon's face and make it light up. We listen to him on the monitor pushing it after we've tucked him in.

Wyatt got this book for his birthday and it is the cutest book ever. It has TONS of flaps that he loves to open and look at. There's pages for counting, colors, mommy/baby matching, and tons more. It's perfect. He likes to find the monkeys.

We were laying on our tummies reading and looking at pictures together, but I just had to get a picture so I could remember these memories forever and share them with Wyatt one day.

Wyatt loves his bed. Every night when we tell him it's night night time and we are going to go read the moon book, he gives us hugs and kisses and goes to the stairs. He gets in his bed like such a big boy, lays down, and waits to be tucked in. So sweet!

Geoffrey's was home...

When my sister and I were little every time we drove past a Toys R' Us we would all talk about whether or not Geoffrey was home. My mom always made silly things like that stick. So, when I heard on the radio that Frisco's Toys R' Us was having their re-opening celebration this weekend, I called the store and asked if Geoffrey would be there. He was! After nap today, I took Wyatt to Toys R' Us. I kept asking him the whole way there if he thought Geoffrey would be home. When we got there we first saw the Yo Gabba Gabba Robot. Wyatt was not digging it. He couldn't stop looking, but he definitely liked to keep his distance. So, we walked around the store to warm up, which of course lead us to the balls. Wyatt HAD to get the basketball and carry it around. On our way back out to try again with the characters, we saw him.... Geoffrey was home! Wyatt got to play bball with Geoffrey. And I was able to get my picture. Who needs to hug the characters when you can play ball with them. :)

Finally, he pet Martha. We are okay with doggies so why not be okay with the big, huge yellow one.

And my mom always lets Wyatt ride the fire engine with Bert and Ernie. Now that Wyatt is able to flip his rocking horse, this ride isn't quite exciting enough for him.

Off to a good start...

I can't believe I've already been back at work for a month! Fall should be here before we know it. We are very excited about this at our house. For many reasons starting with football season and cooler weather. I've been so bad about blogging and taking pictures, so I'm going to work on this. This is my first year teaching high school biology and so far it's been awesome. I love the school, the kids, everyone I work with, and the subject. I've been extremely busy being "new" though and getting everything figured out.

I really miss my baby bootcamp friends. I've been going to the gym and it's just not the same. I also started going to the gym early in the morning so I could have more play time with Wyatt in the evenings and it's been really nice (in the evenings). I'm sure we will get some pictures this weekend so I'll be doing an update with cute pictures soon. I do have pictures of my classroom. I still can't get over how big it is!

I stood in the back corner and took this picture diagonally so you could see how massive the room is. I love it! We have a full size classroom and a full lab. The lab tables are really big, have there own cabinets and sinks.
