Life Lately (And 18 week pregnancy update)

This is what I look like anytime my kids are sleeping or Chris is being superdad. I've had the worst migraines ever for 18 weeks now. I had them pretty bad with Wyatt, not as bad with Kenley, but none have lasted this long and sometimes it's just depressing. Don't get me wrong, I'm counting my blessings daily that I'm pregnant and that Baby is healthy and growing, I just wish I could be much more productive than I have been lately. I've tried a chiropractor, but it wasn't instant relief and even with insurance it was pretty expensive for the amount of times I needed to go per week. This past weekend I got a massage and she really worked on trigger points and I've had a few decent days so I'm hoping this is helping a little. Several people mentioned eating honey. I don't love honey or hate it, so I've been trying to add some in here and there. As far as dealing with the headaches and migraines I'm getting pretty good and I'm convinced I could make a few things for people that suffer from migraines. Lately, ice packs have felt good and seem to help. I have one that goes around my head and covers my eyes and it works well, too. I like to pull my blankets up to cover my ears to make it even more quiet in the room. Chris has been such a blessing - on top of working lots, he goes way above and beyond every chance he gets. The best part about Chris taking over and doing things I should have done or didn't get to is that he NEVER makes me feel bad about it. Of course, it's hard as a mom and wife to not get the house completely cleaned, or have dinner made, or whatever, but he never makes me feel that way.

Another blessing lately: When we decided I was going to stay home it took very careful budgeting and several cut backs. Another great thing about Chris is how he handles money (me, not so much) and how he got things paid off and all organized so that I could stay home. He loves him some Dave Ramsey! Anyways, for Kenley's pregnancy and now this one there is always a large amount of money due and so we always have to save up, budget a little differently, and take on some extra jobs here and there to have the money ready. Actually, for Wyatt we had to do the same thing because even though I was working we had to prepare for maternity leave. Anyways, my point is it gets a little stressful, but it always works out. Since Chris is the "money guy" he totally gets freaked out and panics and was convinced that he needed to get a weekend job. I felt awful. I didn't want him to have to work more on top of what he's doing. So I prayed and prayed that God would help us some how make things work where Chris didn't have to do this or feel the need to do this. Now, I did some stuff like I added babysitting to my Care.com account - I already was listed as a tutor, but never really got any jobs from the website but went ahead and added that to my profile. A few weeks ago a friend saw me on Care.com and asked me to babysit every Tuesday while Wyatt is at school (and bring Kenley) so she could get some things done. She had been nervous about getting a sitter and it worked great that I could do it and I had been needing a job. Kenley and the other little girl have so much fun playing, too. What an absolute blessing and answered prayer. This has been such a help, and I'm so so so grateful. Shortly after that another friend needed some math help for her kiddo who is getting ready to take the standardized tests and called me. She wanted me to come twice a week for a few weeks. God is good and always provides. And getting to help out with everything really makes me feel good.


Now, here's what the kids have been up to. Lots and lots of playing at home. They play together so well.

Preschool Easter Egg Hunt

I'm getting behind on posting but I'm determined to catch up so our Easter weekend post will be coming soon. Last Thursday, Wyatt's preschool class had an Easter egg hunt and celebrated. Kenley and I stopped by for the hunt and it was too cute to watch. The kids were super excited.

I love this little class picture. It's hard to see everyone, but the fact they they are all sitting and sort of looking is a miracle in itself. Wyatt loves his school friends and teachers. He has had so much fun and learn a lot this year. I also love how excited he gets when I come to school to see him. I'll enjoy it now and just hope he always gets excited to see me.

Night Night Routine {Kenley}

Kenley is a great sleeper and now when we say it's night night time she will start to go upstairs to her room. Every time she gets to her room she gets on her rocking horse (which used to be Wyatt's, but he couldn't use it by this age because he'd rock it so hard he'd fly over the top - boys!). She LOVES it and each time she wants to stay on longer. I'll ask her if she's ready for bed and she shakes her head "no" and holds onto it as tight as she can. But as soon as she gets her sleep sack on (the loose blanket like dress things) and her binky (she still has them but only at bedtime) she lays down and she's ready for bed. I love her sweet smile and giggles.

123's

Part of the reason Wyatt is in preschool 2 days a week is because he was not wanting to do ABC's and 123's with me. He's always preferred to line cars up, stack cars, sort cars, zoom cars..... He will do things like puzzles and learning games, but wasn't really interested in numbers and letters. I have no idea why. Being a teacher and now a tutor I always wondered why parents would pay me when they could just do the work with their kids, and I totally get it now. I love how things come full circle when you are a parent. My days of judging are long gone. God sure does humble us, doesn't he?!

I try not to worry too much, but I really don't want him to struggle in school. I want him to love school. Some kids in his class can write their names! Well, Wyatt does things in his time, which usually isn't alarmingly late (except when he's the first child and I still worry about things like this), but usually isn't "early" either. So I'll blog this to remind myself in the future not to worry too much.

The other day he was playing with the computer keyboard and recognizing the "W" for Wyatt. Today he told me each of the numbers on the number legos and put them together then counted the pictures and put them with their numbers. Yay! Way to go, Wyatt. I'll stop worrying. You've got this. ;)

Allen Americans Game

Last Sunday we took the kids to an Allen Americans hockey game. It was really fun. Wyatt enjoyed watching, but I think he was more excited about the popcorn and he kept asking if we could go back to the circus.

Not a bad way to watch a game - leather seat, a drink, and a bucket of popcorn.

 

Of course, Red Car got to come along and Wyatt played with him on the railing the entire time. We really should stop buying any toys that aren't cars. This one is "red car with no stickers" since they've all worn off in the sandbox, the pool, and the bathtub, but it's still his favorite.

Super Hero Day!

Today was Super Hero Day at Stroller Strides. Look at my precious BatBabies.


I tried and tried and tried to get a perfect picture and getting 2 kids to look, sit still, and smile was not happening. They were pretty pumped up to be Batman and Batgirl, too.



Wyatt wanted to make sure I got a pic of his cape.

And a cute conversation Wyatt and I had today about how we can't eat junk food and need to eat healthy food/snacks and make good choices as we were shopping at Target.

Mommy: I got these new raisins to try. They are covered in yogurt and taste like candy, but they are actually a healthy snack.
Wyatt: What?! Are you sure? (He was eating them and must have thought they were too good.)
Mommy: Yup. Healthy food can taste good, too.
Wyatt: Are you kidding me?!

He cracks me up with the silly things he says. And he's pretty good about eating fruit and veggies, but he LOVES junk food and candy so we are trying to cut it out better.

And when Chris was leaving for work today Wyatt yelled, "Don't make too much money at work today, Daddy!" Sometimes I'm not sure where he gets this stuff, but it's funny.

What's in Ned's Head?

Wyatt got this game for his birthday and I finally got it out the other day for the 3 of us to play. Both kids had a blast sticking their hands in Ned's head and seeing what they could find. When I taught preschool I used to let the kids do something similar to this with a box where they'd put their hands in and try to guess what was inside. I forgot how exciting this is to kids.
