Sealife Aquarium

Chris's mom and sisters drove in from North Carolina for a few weeks and we've been having lots of fun. Friday we all (minus Chris and Gene since they were working) went to the Sealife Aquarium in Grapevine. We had fun. Wyatt and Kenley liked looking at all the fish and Wyatt has been talking about it ever since. The pictures aren't that good because it was pretty dark in there, but here's what I've got.

Waiting in line to get in.
Aunt Kenzie, Aunt Maddie (both are 12), Kenley, Wyatt, and Cousin Tripp

When we were inside we ran into family friend, Lenora, and her granddaughter, Caroline.

I love this picture. And just so everyone knows. Wyatt has cute plaid shorts (several) and lots of nicer collared shirts but he refuses to wear them. He insists on wearing athletic shorts. He also likes to dress himself at times so if his shorts are backwards, or he has slippers on, or doesn't match just know that we are smiling that he wants to be independent. He will understand AWKWARD one day. :)

Love My Parents

I'm sure I have mentioned that my parents are divorced, but that we all do holidays, birthdays, and just hanging out all together. Well, all my parents went out on a kid-free night and sent me these pictures. It makes me smile to see them all together. I count my blessings for this.

Homework

Since Wyatt has younger Aunts and an Uncle he is always hearing about homework and he thinks homework is cool. He's always telling me that he needs to do his homework. So today I pulled out a "homework" book to see if he could do it and sure enough he did awesome. My favorite thing about teaching was watching kids feel so proud of themselves and I am loving watching Wyatt light up when he does things. So special.

Summer Reading

The city library did a Summer reading program for little kids and Wyatt was sooo excited to do it. We got a sheet with ducks on it and everytime we read he got to color a duck. We've been getting new library books every week or so and Wyatt loves reading before nap and bedtime. He colored in each duck very carefully. Check out how well he's getting at staying in the lines. When all the ducks were colored he proudly took his paper to the library to get his prize.

So proud.

Very excited to go get his prize.

Walking up to turn in his paper like a big boy.

Heading to the benches to see what he got. (Please ignore the "tail," which is actually a toy stethoscope. This kid is obsessed with tails right now and even though he has 2 homemade tails he still insists on wearing this one occasionally. The mind of a 3 year old.)

He got a toy panda bear, beach ball, Chick Fil A ice cream coupon, and a circus ticket (I think we just might go this year) and he was so excited. He called Daddy and Grammy in the car to tell them all about it.

8 Months {Kenley}

At 8 months Kenley is...
Still the happiest baby ever. Always smiling and laughing.
"Talking" non-stop.
Eating more and more soft foods every week and started eating puffs and baby snacks (without choking). She has started "chewing."
Sleeping great during naps, but having a hard time at night with teething pain. She wakes up a few times a night.
Sporting 2 bottom front teeth.
Crawling all over.
Pulling up on everything.
The light of her brother's world.

Perfect Playmates

Wyatt is at such a fun age right now. He is so creative and likes to pretend things and it is so neat to watch his little mind work. His best friend is Kenley. They LOVE each other. I could watch them play all day long. They make each other laugh and it melts my heart. Lately Wyatt is OBSESSED with The Lion King. Yesterday while I was cooking dinner they were playing together and I heard Wyatt calling Kenley "Zazu," the bird on The Lion King. He was climbing "Pride Rock" (our stairs) and telling her "Zazu, take them home." It was so cute. He just crawled around her, talked to her, and reenacted the movie with her. Oh and yes, my mom made Wyatt another tail to add to his collection we are starting. He now has a dragon tail and a lion tail. Spoiled.

Best Daddy Ever

We sure are lucky to have this guy in our family. Chris is such a great Dad and husband and we enjoyed celebrating him this past Sunday. Wyatt was so excited to give him the craft he made when he woke up, then we spent the day shopping at Cabela's (that alone is a perfect day to Chris) with Chris' dad and brother, then lunch, and after naps we all went to my mom's for hanging out and dinner with the whole family.

Random Acts of Kindness

Today we went to the splash area to play and a bunch of middle/high schoolers showed up with bottled water and popsicles just as "random acts of kindness." It sure brought smiles to these little faces. What a sweet thing for them to do! The big kids were on the other side of the play area and Cooper went first (Wyatt was busy in the water) then she took him over to them. It was the cutest thing ever. They ran back with their popsicles so excited! And we explained what the big kids were doing. Great little lesson.

Having their picnics after playing. Not sure why they are so far apart.

Miss Kenley was there, but I didn't get any pics of her. Apparently watching all the excitement wore her out because she was ready for a nap. Here she is in her crib. We have graduated from the swaddle thing to this sleep sack and she loves it.

Good Eater

Kenley, like her brother, is such a good little eater. I haven't fed her a thing she doesn't like. I've been experimenting with a few things other than her usual fruits and veggies so she's had some baby yogurt, beans, and wheat pasta. Yesterday was the pasta day. I had these little wheat O's and thought I could make them, mash them up a bit, and try them out... it was a success. She was one happy girl.

Goldfish

Wyatt took swim classes with Miss Sally this year and we could not be more proud of our little swimmer. He was so brave. Every day he would get a little nervous to get in the water so I'd have to set him in there and Miss Sally would take over and he would be laughing within seconds. We even made new friend, Mason and his Mommy, Tara. Tara is also a Red Raider and we had several friends in common. Wyatt had a lot of fun with Mason and are looking forward to seeing them again soon to hang out.

His favorite thing to do was monkey walk on the wall.

He even jumped off the diving board.

And swam to the wall.

On the last day they got medals and prizes. Wyatt chose a car... surprise surprise, right?!

He can officially swim and has not stopped!!! We are so proud. Good job, Wyatt!

Cute boys.
